Like all wooden recorders needs breaking in for a few minutes a day for a week then slowly building up to an hour at most. This stops problems with moisture building up in the wood and causing a block in the mouthpiece. Like all wooden recorders it would not survive a drop on a hard floor. It is easy to play but early begginner classroom use would not be appropriate. The cleaning rod is essential and the hard case and recorder are well built. The neck strap is useful for a teacher. The recorder has a good clear tone. It would play well in an ensemble. Would be great if it came with Cork grease in order to help the connection between mouthpiece and body of the recorder.

I liked the fact that this is a wooden recorder, beautifully made with a lovely tone.My six-year-old granddaughter has just started recorder lessons at school and I wanted her to have a wooden one as I did at school (and still have one now, albeit not the same one).

Great recorder for the little ones. Good value for money as well.

I am new to the recorder and only really remember the plastic ones we all used at school. This is nothing like that. It’s a lovely wooden instrument, made from maple with a cork insert where the head joint attaches to the middle joint (well, that’s what they call the pieces on the included fingering sheet, anyway!) To be honest, I don't understand the fingering instructions but I'm sure I'll get there.It looks great and even after just a few minutes of experimentation, it sounds great too. It’s nicely tuned and easy to play. An excellent addition to the package is the cleaning rod, which is easy to use and a very worthwhile piece of equipment. It also comes with a cord for wearing around your neck when playing.The recorder comes in two pieces which fit together very tightly and is packaged in a nice protective presentation box (the box is plastic, I would have preferred wood, but I realise that would have increased the price significantly).Overall, a good instrument at an affordable price – worth a look, and remember it’s nothing like the plastic one you had in junior school!
