My Personal Experience with the ROG Thor 1200W Platinum II Power Supply

I’m writing this review after spending quality time with my ROG Thor 1200W Platinum II power supply, and I must say, I’m genuinely impressed. Right off the bat, one aspect that stands out is its incredibly smooth and linear power delivery.Being an avid gamer, I’ve got it hooked up to my graphics card that often operates at full throttle. What struck me was the unwavering consistency in the power supply, even under such demanding circumstances. It never misses a beat, ensuring my gaming sessions are uninterrupted and my equipment runs flawlessly.Aside from its reliable performance, this power supply comes with a few bells and whistles that I find very appealing. The OLED display, for one, is a neat feature. It adds a futuristic touch, providing useful information right at my fingertips. Moreover, the ROG Thor 1200W Platinum II is as stylish as it is functional. The sleeved cables and the Aura Sync compatibility give me the freedom to customize my setup’s aesthetics. And let’s not forget the 0dB mode - it’s so silent, you wouldn’t know it’s working hard to power up your rig. It’s also worth noting that the 10-year warranty brings an extra layer of reassurance, underscoring the quality and longevity of this power supply. All in all, the ROG Thor 1200W Platinum II power supply has not only met but exceeded my expectations. It’s a reliable powerhouse, delivering consistent performance while adding a touch of style to my rig. This is one investment I’m truly pleased with!

Worth it. Best power supply I have had!

OK let’s face it. You don’t know me. But I am a huge ASUS fan and I have been buying their products for years. However, I have only purchased motherboards, video cards, monitors, but I’ve never purchased a power supply of their brand. I did my research and I ended up getting this one because I needed 1000 W and I was looking for something add long-term and something that has had good reviews and most of all that had a really good rating. And this one delivered all that. Now I’ve been running this for a month now and I can tell you it’s very powerful and it runs cool and very quiet. All the bells and whistles are not a plus for me but it may be for you like the lights on the side and it’s cool mirror look, but mine will be hidden and not viable for the naked eye. So I needed something to add a good rating and a good warranty. My last power supply lasted nine years so, I chose this and I am so glad I did.If you look at all the specs, everything matches up and then some. They have had years of pros and cons to all their products in their brand, but I’m here to tell you this one delivers. But like anything, do your research, pay attention to what you need in your environment, but I honestly feel this would be a good fit for just about anybody that needs this much power.

More Room

This is the first time we have used an SFX-style power supply for one of our builds. It is 1000 watts and platinum-rated, so I don't know what I expected. The build was going into a Thermaltake 300 case requiring a Mini or Macro motherboard. Please keep in mind that motherboards of those sizes are actually reversed in their nomenclature. The "Micro" is a more giant board than the "Mini." It's just another thing one needs help understanding about the computer world. The case would accommodate an entire SFX power supply, but I wanted our techs to have more room to maneuver while building. That theory worked out great. With the extra room, they could store the extra wires neatly. Also, you must realize that the motherboard is rotated with the 300 (and also the other from Thermaltake) tower-style cases. The socket area used for a standard build is on the left, which becomes the back of the computer. This socket area ends up on top of the case. This then puts all the cables in a different position, too. The 24-pin cable is on the bottom, only a couple of inches from the position of the power supply. You end up with about 6-8 inches of extra cable. As I said, now we have a larger area to fold and store the extra. This PSU also has programmable RGB, which can be done by simply plugging the cable into a standard ARGB socket on your motherboard. Unfortunately, you can't see too much of the light show in this case. A great power supply that does its job and saves you a lot of room for your arranging.
