Commonly known as the TSAR ‘Tritium Search and Rescue’ Intended use: Dive, search and rescue Encapsulated tritium (Isotope H3) light sources are at each hour position on dial and on hour and minute hands Movement: High torque quartz with EOL (End of Life indicator for battery) The Marathon Search & Rescue Diver’s Quartz is a diver’s watch with a high torque, accurate swiss quartz movement. Designed for use by Search and Rescue (SAR) divers and manufactured under ISO 6425 standards, the Diver’s Quartz is a watch built to withstand the most extreme conditions. The Diver’s Quartz is also known as the Tritium Search and Rescue (TSAR). The Marathon TSAR is water resistant down to 30 ATM - 300 meters (1000 feet) underwater. Made from 316L surgical grade stainless steel, the TSAR is a purpose built watch that will not let you down. The glass of the TSAR is in fact not glass, but a synthetic sapphire that resists scratches. The TSAR is handmade in La Chaux de Fonds Switzerland to guarantee the highest level of quality and accuracy in manufacturing. Inside the TSAR is a Swiss made, 3 jewel ETA F06 high torque quartz movement. The TSAR uses self contained Tritium gas tubes to ensure constant visibility in low light situations. A gas tube is placed on each hour marker, each hand and uses MaraGlo for the 12 hour bezel marker. Tritium tubes are self illuminating gas tubes which contain an isotope of hydrogen, meaning they will not dull down in brightness like normal photo-luminescent paint which requires an external light source to create a glow

Fantastic watch
Takes a little bit to get used to the size but once I did I haven’t taken it off. The second hand lines up with every minute and second mark on the dial and bezel every time. The pip ( triangle marker on bezel ) lines to perfect with each marker and stays luminous for several hours. The do you titrium tubes are just bright enough and can be seen in low light as well, something my luminox watches did not do well. It does have a “ Hacking function “. The only thing I don’t like is the band it came with. The smell of vanilla just isn’t my thing.A little expensive but worth every penny

Very nice
Heavy watch for its size as noted by others. A bit small but would not want the additional weight. Thickness of case seems a bit disproportion but not terribly difficult to get used to. Replaced band with "hstrap" for non-scuba use. Rugged elegance though design modernization seems warranted. I would prefer a titanium version as also noted in another review. Seems to keep excellent time. Highly recommend especially for those seeking a good quality dive watch for the price and vintage overall impression

Excellent Watch
This is one beautiful watch. It was a tough decision whether to get the TSAR or GSAR. In the end I knew that I could save $300.00 if I purchased the TSAR and then I could purchase the stainless steel band for it. Both bands look great with the watch. The stainless steel was not difficult to put on and adjust. A couple instrument screwdrivers and some patience and you can have the band on and adjusted in about 20 minutes. The TSAR is a tough watch and will split wrist time with my Casio Pro Trek.

Meh
Probably not the best financial choice unless you need it or have some good side cash.

Great watch
Great watch. Deceivingly light and does not wear like a large watch at all. The tritium dial is pretty bright in total darkness. The vanilla scented wristband is kind of weird though...

Lower quality than expected, much better options out there for the same price - not worth the price!
LOOK & FEEL:• WW194007 is 41mm in diameter and 14mm thick. Surprisingly, it wears smaller than 41mm (compared with my Omega Seamaster 41mm) however it wears tall. Nothing to be bothered about, but it’s tall. If you plan on wearing it under the cuff, think again!• The watch comes with a vulcanized rubber strap which is indeed extremely well done and comfortable. Unlike most diver’s rubber straps which are initially stiff and need a break-in period, this is a pleasure to wear from the moment you pull the watch out of the box.• The stainless-steel bracelet can be purchased separately, it’s pretty much on par with most other better-quality bracelets; however, it’s ridiculously overpriced. Yes, it can be customized with different military insignias (or leave it sterile if you so prefer) but no personalization can justify the ludicrous price point. For about ½ price you can buy a high-end stainless-steel engineered bracelet which is actually better in many regards.• My watch came in a much fancier box than I expected based on the numerous YouTube reviews I’ve watched. Inside a black, Marathon marked cardboard box there was a really nice, wooden, black box with the company’s logo inside and outside. Well done here!• According to all the reviews I’ve seen, all Marathon watches used to have the manufacturing date engraved/stamped on the case. Unfortunately they decided to no longer mention it.FUNCTIONALITY AND DETAILS:• The second hand doesn’t line up perfectly with the minutes markers and that seems to be due to a slight play in the hand (gravity influences the position). I'm not sure whether the red tip of the second hand is actually a tiny tritium tube or just paint but it seems to weigh enough to account for the misalignment.• It’s next to impossible to set the minute hand to land exactly on a marker when the second hand goes through 00. Even when turned clockwise, passed the desired marker, then backed up slightly, the minute hand still jumps unpredictably when the crown gets pushed back in. It took me 7 times and a process of learning through trial-and-error to get it (almost) perfect. Not exactly military style…• When screwing it in or unscrewing it out, the crown rubs either against the crown guard or against a roughly finished thread at every ½ turn. It’s not something to interfere with the watch functionality but it is disappointing to see something like this in a military, high grade watch.• Pulling the crown to the 1st position, to only adjust the date is a hit-and-miss task. It may get loosened in time but as it currently stands I’ll most likely stop the watch (inadvertently pulling the crown to the 2nd position) when the intention was to only adjust the date.• The illumination from the T25 tritium tubes is really good, in fact that's one of the best features of the watch. Hours, minutes and seconds are easily readable.• I don't know whether all ETA F06 are just as good or it's a matter of luck, but the watch is freakishly accurate: 0:00 error in 4 days.• The anti-reflective coating is neither earth shuttering, nor something to complain about. In full reflective light the details on the dial are hazy but still discernible. Other watches do a much better job in this regard.MANUFACTURER’S SUPPORT: in short, zero. I sent 3 messages using their website contact form, with questions relating to this particular model. They didn’t bother answering. Not even one. Some owners reported that for $50 service charge, Marathon would be changing the battery, gaskets, O-Rings, do a water seal test and redo the glue on the crystal if there are signs of leaks. It sounds really good in theory, as long as they even notice the watch being sent in for service and then, they remember to send the watch back to you. Some other unhappy customers out there posted some YouTube videos - anonymous style.CONCLUSION: Definitely NOT recommended!. I’m not impressed at all and I’m not sure I will keep the watch long enough to come back to this review and update it with impressions after wearing it for some time. In fact, I’m quite disappointed considering that I bought it based on lots of reviews praising the watch for its qualities. I guess, like anything else, it is purely a matter of perspective. If you’re coming from Timex or Casio, you’ll probably find the Marathon amazing. If, on the other hand, you’re coming from the likes of Rolex, Omega, or even higher-end Seiko, Marathon will most likely leave you with a bitter taste. In my opinion, if you’re looking for a solid, reliable, much better-quality diving watch, without breaking the bank, go full Seiko – hands down. For just about the same price, you’ll find lots of better options in the low/medium spectrum, both in quartz or automatics. In the mid-range, I would highly recommend Oris Aquis Date automatic diver – phenomenal quality and very reasonably priced. As for the high-end, well, the sky (and your bank account) is the limit…As a foot note, this entire review is based on personal experience with watches I own or owned, not from opinion formed from watching YouTube and reading watch forums.

Absolutely great military quartz watch with one flaw
This is a beautiful military style watch, with perfect size (not too big, not too small, a bit on the thick side since this has a 14 millimeter height). The dial sits very deep in the case, so it's a bit odd to look at, but it adds to the military charm in my opinion.Unfortunately, as others have reported on Amazon.com reviews or elsewhere on the web, some units have slightly misaligned bezels out of the factory (i.e. the triangle at 12 o'clock on the bezel does not line up with the 12 o'clock mark on the dial) which at this price point is unacceptable.I am returning my unit unworn, and will perhaps buy another one later, hoping that I'll get one with a perfectly aligned bezel.

Great Watch
Very nice watch at a great price. Was looking for this style of Marathon watch for a while. Prices are all over the place. Was a little smaller than I thought but like the feel and weight when its on. Upgraded to stainless link band. No regrets.
