Easy setup, great prints, very good scans
I previously had an HP M1212nf home office multi-function laser printer, and it served me well for almost 6 years before a paper jam wound up irreparably damaging one of the rollers. That HP was a solid printer, with one exception: the auto-feed scanner never worked right, so I'd wind up having to manual-feed any scans that I needed to do, and then stitch the result together with PDF software. Luckily I never had to do it very often, but it was always a pain. This Canon MF269dw has just as good of prints and scans as that HP, with the added bonus that the auto-feed works flawlessly. I can put a half dozen sheets into the hopper, and it'll scan all of them and bundle them in to one PDF with the included software. If you follow the instructions, the setup is painless in Windows 10. I saw some complaints, but I'm guessing those users didn't follow the instructions--you need to install the software first before plugging in (for wired) or turning on (for wireless) the printer. I have it hooked up to my router with a CAT5 cable, and it works flawlessly on all of my desktop and laptop computers (it claims you can print from your phone, but I have not tried that). It's a fairly large machine, and is half-again as tall as the old HP, but it only takes up about the same footprint. The interesting thing about it is that the paper tray is internal rather than sticking out the side, so it actually looks like it takes up more room since it's roughly a 15" black cube sitting on your desk. In practice though, the HP took up just as much room--the printer only had a 10" or so footprint, but then the paper tray stuck out another 5-6" from the front anyway. Kind of either/or, but one benefit of the internal paper tray is that it's protected from dust (my printer sits next to a window that's pretty much always open in the spring and fall so there's a lot of that).Over all I'm happy with the purchase. Hopefully it lasts as long as the HP did. It's a little pricy, but if you do a fair amount of black-and-white printing then I think it's worth it.

Removal of toner cartridge, mobile printing, double side scanning\copying
What a pain just to figure out how to take the toner cartridge out. It would have been nice to have some detailed pictures on how to release. There are 2 detent arms, one on each side of the cartridge. I figured that I had to pull up the arm, but wasn't sure. One flipped back, and I thought I had broke the arm, but that's what you got to do. After further review, I am guessing the levers are for shipping.I noticed after a power cycle, they were flipped back on their own. If i would have known there was nothing to prep on the cartride, this would have been a no brainer.Everything is hooked up and working. Couldn't get direct print working to my android point to point. Had to conect the printer wirelessly to the router, dowload the canon app, and was able to print from Android, iPhone, tablet. and laptop which is connected usb. I like using usb, in case the wifi drops. Both work together. I enjoyed the double sided scanning feature. No more having to flip documents over when scanning\copying. By the way, for the price, not a bad printer. However, you could use a forum to get through setup that should have been much easier. I will kick up the rating from 2 stars to 4 as the printer is doing what I need for a relatively cheap price.

DON'T LISTEN TO ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!!
So of course I had reservations about this product after reading all the reviews about how hard it is to set up, isn't truly wireless, can't print from other devices, etc. Soooooo I just got this printer delivered and hooked up last night and found it extremely easy, but I do have to say, the manual that comes with it is not very helpful. My husband and I went directly to the Canon website and there is literally a how-to video on how to set up everything from start to finish. I literally had it set up and working in less than an hour. So complaint # 1 squashed. Complaints # 2 and 3 kind of go hand in hand. So using the how-to video, we set the printer up directly to our in-home Wi-Fi. If you have an internet connection and you can connect to it with your phone, tablet, etc, your Canon printer will connect to it too. You just have to put in your Wi-Fi password directly onto the screen on the printer using the alpha/numeric key pad. Not hard at all. Complaint # 2 squashed. Then we test printed from my computer, which is the main computer in the house, my husband's lap top, (which he did install the printer and driver on his laptop), printed fine. We test printed from our phones and that worked too! And we didn't even have to install or download Apple Air Print or any of the other aps that the reviews mention. Because we set it up wirelessly to our Wi-Fi network and our phones are obviously on the same network, we were able to print without a problem. Complaint # 3 squashed. Now with all that being said, I do think this printer is better suited for at home use than in a busy office environment. I'm used to large heavy duty Kyocera 3 in 1s that are much faster than this machine, especially duplex copying and scanning. But for a compact machine that can do all these functions wirelessly?? It's amazing for at home use or use in a small office. I love the product and am extremely pleased with my purchase! You can't get better for the money!
